JD - my Sal's EL grows like a weed too & it is in a pot, like 6ft. This season I did not get to sample any of my Sal's as I was away when it was ripening. I find H.Chicago and Dark Portuguese are not so vigorous in their growth. Perhaps "Martin" could chime in his experience.
A recent harvest (30 October 2011) of Hardy Chicago, Albuquerque White #2 (front row L-R), Sicilian Black JR, MVSB (second row L-R), and MVSB. The almost shriveled up MVSB was excellent!
