Today's Harvest 2013

Magnificent ! What a great haul of figs ! They all look so delicious JD. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Very Nice JD. You give me hope that next year, the third year for some, will be the year for more than one fig a day!

Thanks Darius, Eithieus, Smaritza, Bob, Patte, and Charles.
I enjoy taking photos. The tool is a Sony DSC-H5 camera sometimes with a close-up lens.

Bob,
Hope...an elixir for living a full and often times rewarding life as long as it is duly coupled with action.

Flavor. I tasted all of the dark figs one after the other. Petite was the runner up to Pananas Purple and better than the Hardy Chicago on that day. I have had Hardy Chicago that were better than that particular Petite Negri. Hardy Chicago has a more complex, intense berry flavor but the Petite Negri was also complex but not as figgy as a Celeste nor as sweet but somehow different and very good. I need a few more to describe it better.
Productivity. Hardy Chicago is more productive and grounded. The Petite Negri is potted.
Ripening Time. The Hardy Chicago started earlier and ripen faster.

Thanks for asking. If you have any more questions regarding the figs in my backyard, just ask.

Bon Appetit

These were primarily used for dinner...fig pizza. My wife and children love it. It is the only way my son will eat figs.

Harvested on Monday 12 August

Which fig did you favor in that grouping.

That plate really must have given you tingles.  If it weren't for that one, light, cowbird, fig...

Agree Shah about that paleface fig on plate.

Petite Negri with Battaglia Green as a close runner up. It was the crunch and not the sweetness of Petite Negri because they were equally ripe (VdB needed 2-3 days to be competitive). Battaglia Green tastes like a dark fig and has slight acidic undertone that adds depth to its flavor. Both hold well in the heat, humidity and rain of 8B.

Battaglia Green is sexier, though
