Howie, Dark Portuguese is a good tasting fig and a real workhorse, producing more than any of my trees in pots. VDB is a bit richer to my taste, maybe more berry. The best of the lot and the best so far this year is the Bisirri Lightnot, which is what I'm calling it until we can determine what it is as it was sold to me by Bisirri's as a light fig. As I noted above I also have the Bisirri dark which is what it was sold as. That one produces small dark figs that are very good indeed, probably equal to VDB in my view. I am very impressed with Latarolla for it's size and taste, but I think LSU when really ripe is a little bit sweeter. I am unable to rank them as others do, there were no bad ones or none that were markedly worse, differences in flavor were all enjoyable, just the one standout.
