Today's Treat - Flanders

First fig off this tree.  Could have ripened one or two more days, but a very good fig!

The flavor was sweet, rich and figgy.  No melon or any other flavors detected.  Mild crunch.  Skin thin.  Delicious!

Wow Suzi, that is a beauty and yes, it does look delicious.

Congratulations, Suzi!
Could you describe the taste?

The taste was sweet, rich, figgy.  Not berry.  Not too nutty.  Light crunch.  Juicy.  I think it would have been a little more honey rich had I left it on the tree longer, but I saw those birds eyeing it, and decided to steal their thunder.  There are more on the tree, and I'll let those hang longer.  I'm sure others here have this fig.  Be interesting to get their opinions.

I posted photos of it the other day.  As mentioned then, I largely ignored this fig (due to appearance) for maybe the first 10 years of having it but it is a very good-tasting fig.  Mine has a darker pulp, probably due to wasps.  Good productive variety.

Must have missed your post, Harvey.  I had no idea what this fig tasted like until today.  I think if I let mine hang longer, the pulp will be darker like yours.  Definitely a keeper!

Looks great Suzi, still waiting for my first.

thanks for sharing Suzi,  It looks great

Looks great Suzi.
This was one of the first fig trees I had. It's a good grower, but mine had trouble ripening the figs and it never put on very many to begin with. It had moderate FMV that was always present. I always felt like maybe that is why it didn't put on very many figs, so I gave it to someone who just wanted a big plant. I was able to ripen one fig, the taste and skin were just as you describe, it was definitely a good fig but just not meant for me.
