May sound stupid but....
I started 2 cuttings like 9 days ago in sphagnum. I bought that Clonex gel yesterday... Would it help/hurt to dip the cuttings now?

In my newbieness last year, i did that.  Don't know if it really helped, but I guess it didn't hurt.

My very first cutting was a broken branch hanging from a tree labed "Ischia" at Home Depot.  I started it in paper towel/baggie.  after 2 weeks there was still nothing, so I dipped in dip n grow and put in sp moss.  Another week or so saw roots.

If the cuttings are still alive, it can only boost them roots .
If they are dried-out... They'll stay dried out :( ... Perhaps in that case, you should try the refigerator ! LOL

Just follow the instructions about the clonex - too much is not the best - and avoid touching the gel with your skin .

9 days is not enough to see roots - Until 3 weeks everything is still fine - and check the temp 20°C/25°C is a must.
