too soon to cover long island area? wilt proof any good?

greetings,
this weekend i covered two small new fig trees figuring
their wood was more delicate and some frost might do damage.
however even though we have been through three or more frosts
my insticts tell me to wait maybe another week.
by now i'm usually done.
also has anybody used wilt proof, any good?

  thank you

I have only heard that Wiltpruf is good when transplanting, air layering, etc, when controlling moisture transpiration is critical.

I tried it one year on my figs and it didn't seem to do much. I found that complete covering and insulating were a lot more important than wilt-prufing or not.
