torrential rains in SE

I just spoke to Darkman in Pensacola and he has water running like a river through his yard which washed a lot of the trees away. He also has 3 inches of water in his house and it's still raining. Please keep him and all those in the Southeast in y'all prayers for they are hurting from this outbreak of tornados, thunderstorms and more rains that can be handled.

Charles,
I trust that you will get through this. Flood warnings here in Tallahassee as well. Heavy rains for the past two days and thunder-electrical storms this morning. I sure wish we could distribute this rain throughout the year. Let the recoup your fig collection will be the least of your troubles. I am one of many that will help you.

Dear God,
Thank you for the rain. Do you think it is possible to...

Charles. If I can help in any way, let me know.

Charles, be safe, first and foremost. We have you covered on the fig front.

Oh no ! Heard about the heavy rains , possibly getting 2ft of rain , 3-4 inches an hour!!
Be safe there , thoughts and prayer are with you all.

You as well Pete , be safe with those tornados.

That is a LOT of rain.....we got .97 and some wind but the rain was welcome.  Two feet of rain would not be welcome.

Remembered what that was like in Atlanta in 2009, and Nashville soon after.  Not pleasant.

That level, though, sounds like Morakot levels of rain, a large, *wet*, tropical system.  Wouldn't be surprised if billions of dollars in losses have or is occurring.

....tornados are better...  There's luck and then there is snake-eyes.  Floods just slam everyone.

The dose makes the poison. I hope the weather eases up soon.

Y'all be safe! Darkman, sorry your house flooded, that's a disaster in and of itself.

We are having some extreme weather too but not as devastating as the South/East. We have Santa Ana winds blowing 30-40+ MPH with temps in the high 90's to deal with. Hope some firebug doesn't get any ideas. We are primed for another firestorm. Here's what the winds are like in Ramona...a friend's doggie.

I'm with Sue.  Praying for you with your flooding and tornadoes, and praying we don't blow away or burn.  50 mph up here on our mountain, and fire combined with drought is a huge danger.

Stay safe.  I had some thunder and a pretty good storm at 3:30am this morning but so far that has been it.

Also here in NJ.
It has been rain, rain and more steady rain all day long.
Thank God it is plain water...

Yes - beats having it come down as snow!

Take care, everyone!

I now have a gully in my backyard where before there was a nice garden bed with several inches nice organic-rich soil and mulch.  Now all of that is sediment resting on my neighbors yard.  The gully cut down to the clay.  That has never happened before. Basement is dry so my predicament can't compare to Florida and other places but this is by far the worse flooding in our area since we moved here in 2007.  That includes the two hurricanes that brushed by us.  It would be nice to get back to gentle rainstorms again.

Hope everyone stays safe! Flooding is never good, praying for everyone involved.

Has anyone heard from Charles? I know he is busy so I haven't called. I guess I should.

Stay safe to those affected by the heavy rains, tornadoes etc. I am thankful that I do not have to face those calamities.

I got a call from Charles a little while ago. He said they are alright and the damage to the house consist of water getting around 3 inches deep in part of the house. They are in the process of pulling all the carpets out and washing everything with bleach and odorban to prevent and get rid of any mold trying to grow. Having gone through this twice myself, I told him he was doing the right thing. He thinks by Wednesday they should be ready to redo the floors. As for his fig trees which he thought had all washed away, by some miracle they were flooded but not flushed downstream. He seems to think they will be alright. He did lose a lot of other plants and a whole slew of 3 gallon pots filled with potting soil ready to receive some young trees. Also his yard where he had been building good soil for some time has been scoured away down to the hard stuff below. Everthing went including the grass, fences and more. He said a new river formed thru their neighbor hood and flowed through their yards for at least 7 blocks taking everything in it's path.

He wish to thank everyone for their concerns and prayers. He is off line until they get the house dried out and he will keep us posted as soon as he can.

Thanks for the up date being posted.

Well I am still in the middle of recovering from a flood. I appreciate all of the kind thoughts and prayers. I will survive and recover. I live no where near a creek or water so no one around has flood insurance. I have lived here since 1966 with no issues until last June when we had a small flood event only in my back yard. This time we had an additional two feet of water and three inches inside the house. This flood was the result of rainfall in Biblical proportions (reportedly 26") and nearby commercial growth with inadequate runoff preparation. Thanks again for everyone's thoughts and prayers. I am on someone else's computer but hope to have mine back up towards the middle of next week.

Darkman, hope things get better for you.  That was an amazing amount of rain.

Glad you are OK and coping with things.  Sorry to hear of your flooding.  These extreme weather events are impacting a lot of good people.  Good luck drying out and cleaning up!
