It's finally been nice for about a week, getting warmer, so I resurrected the two trees my great uncle gave me.
I overwintered them in burlap underground covered in plywood, as he did.
One seems healthy enough, but the other tree's bark isn't looking so great.
Here are pictures of the damage and one of each tree. It split from freezing? Did something eat at the bark? I know I didn't damage it with my shovel, I was very careful.
Any ideas if it will bounce back? Should I prune and try rooting?
I know you guys have all the answers. Thanks!
