Tree is dormant. Lots of unripe figs. Do I cut them off?

Promise!  Last question today!!

I have promised a lot of cuttings to many members, and just wondering what to do with all the baby figs still hanging on!  Some have color, but they are not going to ripen.  Too cold now.

Do I cut them off at the neck, or at the fig leaving some neck, or don't cut them and send them with the figs, and let the cutting drop them on it's own?

Thanks all you wise and experienced fig buddies!!

Suzi

Cut them at the branch, don't leave anything.

lol. we love you. Just cut it off woman. Or keep the fruit (you cut off in a ziplock) for presentation in the mail.  Members may get a kick seeing that if the weight of the parcel wont bother you.

Just a thought Miss. Suzi :-)

Hey Suzi.

You could always gather 'em all up and try this recipe that Bass has on his site. It's the third one down on this page (Fig Preserve): http://www.treesofjoy.com/content/fig-recipes

If you do this, please be sure to let us know how it turns out :-) .

Good idea Bill, but there aren't enough of them.  Just wait till I get some in ground!!  THEN!  I'll have enough to make fig jam, wine, and all kinds of wonderful recipes!  Those recipes do look great though!

The dream is getting closer.  We are negotiating on 1.4 acres on a short sale.  Big, rocky hill in full sun, and we all know how figs love to get their roots under those rocks in the cool, damp soil on rocky hillsides!

This year, I'm taking all the advice, and cutting them off at the stem.  Wish they were bigger!
