Tree Stoped Growing

These two trees brock bud in early April and seemed to be doing fine
but for the last three weeks nothing as happened
they just stoped at three leaves
most of my others are growing well but these two just stoped
I think that they may be root bound would that cause them to slow or stop
growing
I got these trees at the end of March this year It looks like they have been in the same pot for a long time
if that's the case what would be the best thing to do to get them going again
or wait till the fall to trim roots

Maybe a couple of our Canadian friends can chime in. I am thinking they could us a bigger pot. I would have pruned them quite severely (when dormant), See Pruning.  And they could probably use some fertilizer as well. If they are root-bound and or in too small a container, there is less soil and thus less nutrition to support growth.

If they were mine for this season i would fertilize and top cover any exposed roots with potting mix and keep in full sun just for this season to keep plant alive going in winter season dormancy. Then when dormant
if you want to keep in same containers give a hard root pruning and cut back them branches hard .
For example the one in blue container  cut the far right branch off main trunk its to weak for support, Keep the v (slingshot branch) and cut off  the top hard all those spindly branches need to be removed completely to the trunk .
One done use New potting mix not any of old soil.
In 2 years that one in blue container will take on similar shape as middle tree in photo below with proper pruning each year and no string for branch support.

Mario I had the same issue with the plants I took to my dads house, when they got hit with those 2 nights with frost they stopped growing completely for atleast 3 weeks but I noticed this weekend that they just started breaking bud again, think this week of crazy heat made them wake up.

Jon
I didn't prune when I got them they had already started to bud and I was afraid it would of hurt the trees
Martin
I did top coat the pots with new mix I will be asking for your advice later on when the time comes to prune these trees if yo don't mine
Nelson
these tress never got cold I had then in the greenhouse when we had those cold frosty nights
I think they have never been root pruned and they are root bound when they go into dormancy I Will be removing the old soil and replacing it with new after i cut back some of the roots

Thanks all of you for the advice
