Trees available

New List at Encanto Farms.

Hi Jon,
if a person sent in a want list and its not listed on your newly posted list then its not avaiable this season correct ?

Probably, or they might be getting the only one, which makes it no longer available.

Jon
There is one in the list called "Improved Brown Turkey ".
I am glade your search is over for a "Brown Turkey" that is improved in your opinion.

That is someone else's name and evaluation. On the positive side, any change to a BT would be an improvement.

so funny:)

I was told that the Improved Brown Turkey has larger fruit.  I don't know how improved that is, though.  I was also told that it has a more open eye.

I think the Brown Turkey that Willis gardens sent me this year is an Improved Brown Turkey or the Encanto Brown Turkey. I just ate my first fruit today . It is much larger than the Willis Celeste/Desert KIng mislabeled fig and looks exactly like the picture of the Encanto Turkey both inside and out. It was extremely sweet with a deep open eye. It even smelled nice. However a second fruit I picked which was a tiny bit firmer did not taste quite as good although it too was very sweet. The inside of the fruit is pale yellow with a bit of pink in the very center. The exterior is greenish yellow with bluish purple mottling. The bluish color seems to have developed as our nights have been in the 50 degree range for the last week. Another fruit will be ripe tomorrow. I will take a picture this time. I was just too anxious to taste the first one  to grab the camera :) My part of NY is expecting the first frost on Saturday night. I will be covering the figs and shutting them up in my greenhouse. I still have dozens of unripe fruit.

This Willis Brown Turkey of mine has about 7 shoots at the base of the trunk. I can cut these and start new figs , correct. I will want to do this because I have a lady who wants to buy fruit to make preserves from them. These figs would be perfect for that because they are so large and sweet. The fact they are light colored is a plus too because they won't discolor the jam if other fruit is blended with them. So far two out of three of my Willis fig trees are a success. Sure wish I knew what kind of fig the third one is. It was labled Italian Everbearing and I think it has that fig disease everyone was talking about last month. The leaves are twisted and yellow and the tree has not grown very much this summer.

I am interested in the Desert King on your list. However, which would I want to buy ? The PNW or the RT? since I have no idea what is ment by RT.
Linda

Jon do you know when the trees will be shipped to the folks that are on the want list and

Also if the ones wanted are not available will they be notified as such.

Martin, working on it.

Momma, PNW and RT should be the same, though they came from different sources.
