This was a very informative thread.  I have not really tried hard to root Blackberry cuttings because they send out so many shoots and they tip root BUT now that I have read this thread, I think it's time to take some winter cuttings.

  Larry, I'm glad that they're performing up to their potential for you.  I started with cuttings such as these, and now have 1/3 acre in Triple Crown.

 Steve, (fignutty) can give you excellent advise on container growing of peaches.  He duplicates my climate here, in his greenhouse for peaches and nectarines.

  If I had known of your desire to propagate stonefruit, I would have collected cuttings for you from the California Rare Fruit Growers scion exchange that took place over the last few weekends here in Northern Calif.  I sent out over 15 lbs of peach, nectarine and apricot cuttings from the exchange, to other forum members in the last two weeks.

  You might be able to talk Jen (Cheekyjen) into collecting some for you, as the Southern Calif scion exchanges will be going on this upcoming weekend.  (Sorry to throw you under the bus, Jen!  LOL!!)  And, you could also touch base with Joe (pukzpukz), to see if he might forward any of the four lbs of stonefruit scion that I sent him, that he may have left over after grafting his trees.

  That's great, Meg.  With warmth and lots of sunshine, they can easily put on eight feet of growth in a season.  The floricane next year will bear their bounty.  (Some members will see fruit this year from the rooted plants that I sent with the packages, as well)

         My beds are prepped and I will be starting seeds this week...  just as soon as I pry myself away from the fig cuttings.  My house is looking like James' place now, with new bins of starts popping up daily, due to all of the cuttings that the CRFG scion exchange provided.

Meg, The cloner was started Jan the 7th. It runs 2 minutes on and 15 minutes off 24/7.

A couple fig cuttings are ready to move to soil. Some of the TC cuttings are showing roots as well. I am thinking of moving those to soil as well.

Thanks Blue! :P Although your exchange seemed a lot more fruitful (no pun intended) than the one I attended last weekend. I may have to put that one on my calendar next year!

  I was thinking the same Jen....    several of us have been discussing putting something together for next year during the exchanges;  kind of like a post-exchange get-together.  

      Hopefully, El Nin'o will stretch out the rainy season for us this year, and add some growth to the trees in the botanical conservatory, in order that we might harvest a bit more cuttings per cultivar next year.  But even with the drought though, Harvey really came through for us here in the North State.  The tables held around a hundred cuttings each of RdB, Beall, Hative de Argentile, and Bourjasotte Gris.

     And, while the other selections held fewer cuttings each, there was still a nice assortment of Black Madeira, UCR 187-25, Italian 376, UCR 160-50, Italian 395, Italian 320, Italian 253,  Italian 215,   Italian 88,  Sierra,  Igo,  St Anthony (Marseilles), CdD-Blanc, CdD-Noir, Smith, Thomas  Jefferson's  Marseilles from Monticello,  VdB, LSU Purple,  Ischia Green, Yellow Greek,  Armenian, Flanders, Mary Lane, Violet Sepor, Black Jack, Montreuse, and Jurupa.

    For those also  in search of apples, pears, and stonefruit,  those cuttings outnumbered the figs by about 30 to 1.    

      Gary, Brian, Scott, Dan and I were like a bunch of kids on Christmas morning!  LOL!!!

I love harvey, but he didn't bring anything to the Scion exchange....  He was involved with the ordering of scion wood from Wolfskill though.

Gary was amazing with his two huge bags of RDB cuttings!

  Thanks Scott;  I wasn't aware that the large quantity of RdB had come from Gary.  It makes total sense though.  He is incredibly generous.  The Marseilles cultivar from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello was donated by him, and at the conclusion of the exchange, Gary had a fig-newbie follow him home and took cuttings from one of his great trees for him, and then sent me (the other newbie) cuttings as well.  He epitomizes the supportive nature of this forum.

  No one should discount Harvey's contribution in securing the balance of the scion from Davis' Wolfskill though...  as Jen noted, SoCal didn't have the cuttings that were made available to us in the North State, because SoCal didn't have Harvey.  ;-)      Nor did they have you, graciously volunteering your time to take the cuttings.
