Thought for sure one of my conadria brebas was ripe today. It was nice and squishy and had started to split a bit on the bottom. Alas, it was not. It had very little flavor other than that "unripe melon" taste. The next one I'll need to wait until it's all wrinkly I suppose!
brebas are usually not very nice.
I've not had much luck with mine either.
Mine disappeared, not sure if it was birds or the plant aborted them.
Wait till it hangs loosely from the tree or even falls off on its own. Wrinkly is another good sign but it wont be as juicy then and if it splits enough so the insides are visible it may start to spoil. You may have to protect it from critters.
Thanks Bob, there are still a dozen or so brebas on my conadria so ill need to wait a bit longer on them. Is there a general rul on how many days from the time they start to get soft?
Not that I know of. It depends on temps, sun, water, variety and other things I don't know to tell you. Don't over water for the best taste.
