Trying to ID a fig for a friend

Went to see my friend near the river a few weeks ago and found another fig tree in the same neighborhood.  The tree is about 20 ft tall and just as wide.  I was able to taste the figs and they were good, alot like Celeste but not as sweet.  The leaves are not quite Celeste but could be another variant?  I did a little research and it somewhat looks like a "Southern Brown Turkey"? The fruits on the plate are Celestes and the unknowns I'm trying to ID.  The larger ones are the UNK.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Von

ugh, too much photoshop on the fruit. give us natural colors

Aaron,

No photoshopping on the photos.  They were taken by my hubby's iphone and other then resizing to fit, nothing else was done to them.

Von,
Sorry, didn't mean in a mad way, just that maybe you SHOULD photoshop and compare with the fruit in hand in order to come up with a closer to natural color. Could it be that your husbands' phone is set to extra Vivid or Ultra... or something of that nature? You could correct your photos to make them look more natural.
It's not easy to compare with those colors and see if they can match with pics we all have in archives.

Celeste ,no doubt!

I don't know if even possible to 'diagnose a name' by looking at pictures. In my camera, there is a choice for 'food', I found that makes pictures closer to natural.. if I forget to put on that mode, I also get bluish pictures or the reds are more acentuated.

I have a mistery fig that nobody can ID even after tasting the fruit.  Good luck with your project. Although I have seen Herman being on the mark every time...

Waynea, thanks for keeping this thread on track.

Herman, thanks for the ID. Wasn't quite sure but wanted a few more expert opinions.

Grasa, I hope you get an ID on your fig and see you soon. And if there is anyone who can ID figs, that's Herman.

Von

If it is Celeste, why are the figs larger than the other Celeste on the same plate?

Ed, here is where size really does not matter.

Taking my big tree as an example. I have fruits of all sizes and shapes, some more like apples, others like pears with long necks, some are purple on the outside, but lately without much light, they are green with little tint of purple.  Even the pulp, most of it is amber, but here and there I have a tint of pink.

Even though I have it for 20 plus years, if the figs get mixed up with others... I would not be able to tell it is from my tree, except for the taste which seems to be the only thing all fruits have in common, wait not even that, some are sweeter than others.

Furthermore, even those from nurseries come mislabled, so, who is to know what is what?

looks like my NC Dark and Celeste Dark I think they are the same.
