Trying to locate a website

I am trying to find a website I saw a while back which has pictures of huge-trunked fig trees growing in seemingly too small pots. Though the shallow pots were maybe 4-8' in diameter, the trunks were perhaps 12" in diameter, and the trees 10-20' tall, and the pots were all set out in rows, like in a nursery.

Anybody remember seeing it?

Are you referring to this one?

I found this picture in the site http://www.genthial.info

Anyway, it was posted in this forum here

The past year I took several pictures in a local nursery and they were posted in GW forum but, on account of the odious practice of that forum to delete old post, it has disappeared:

Regards.

Nice trunks, Those figs were surely planted in the ground and then dug up a few years later. They have trimmed the branches to compensate for the lost energy of the roots.
This is very common in Bonsai training.

The photos posted above are amazing. Thanks for sharing them!

I had posted this to the GW forum but thought it would be appropriate here as well. I located what appears to be a German nursery online catalogue. Their photos show some huge fig trees in containers - some look like giant bonsai. There are several products and if you click on a picture from the main page, more photos are available of each category, and each one of those photos can be enlarged by clicking. Near the bottom of the page click on next 'nächste' for page two. There you will find some nice ficus bonsai specimens near the bottom. The site language is German, Turkish and English. Use the German language option since some of the products disappear using other languages.

I  recall  seeing these pictures before; and I am still amazed that such big-monster fig
trees can survive in such a (relative) small pot!

Looking down that page i would thing so of those would blow over on a windy day.
I wonder what type of soil and fertilzeing program they use unless they just dig them up, trim them, then pot and sell them on a regular basis.
Anyways those are big trunks and i wonder the age of the large ones.

Yes. Thank you, thank you.

Hello,
I found another site that has some very nice pictures of giant fig trees in containers. They also have pictures of citrus, pomegranate, etc. It is a place called Spanish Plants in the UK. http://www.spanishplants.co.uk/photos.aspx?img=fruit&d=fruit&p=fruit
I think that it would be interesting to hear from one of these nurseries that grows these 'giant bonsai' looking plants - to hear from them how on they grew such interesting specimens and how long it took.

Madonna mia,   Those gigantic trees for only 250 Euro!!!!  amazing.  I would have picked that up and rented a tractor.  That is nice. I did read this correctly, Yes?  Ciao

The old threads in GW disappear from the current pages but the threads are not deleted but archived. Here is the archive location:

I hope it helps.
