Turkish Violetta?

Any one heard of Turkish Violetta?  It is a dark fig growing in Seattle area.  Is it another name of brown turkey?

Reading this post sparked a memory of a dream I had. I was walking around the streets of Seattle eating fruit off the fig trees in the neighborhoods. How's that for random? Apparently in dream land I am a fig thief.

I thought Violetta was a separate variety from BT?

I did a little bit research and that name did not show up.  A local grower sells some fresh dark figs and he calls it Turkish Violetta.  Maybe I should meet with him and take some pictures for ID.

Nichole, I wish there is such kind of neighborhoods in our area.  Maybe your back yard in the future?  :)

You are not that far from Vancouver, BC.
There you will see almost every other house with a fig tree or two in the front yard.

BTW,
Could you be talking about "Tacoma Violette"?

When I google 'Violetta Fig' this is the first hit. It's a blog post from a local guy, Tom, on Vashon Island.

The 2nd hit is a post warning people saying that variety of Violetta is really an english BT.

On craigslist I found someone selling fig trees. I asked what variety and he said 'Bavarian Violetta aka Brown Turkey'

I'd bet this is probably a BT too.

I live in the central district of Seattle and there are lots of fig trees growing all around. Not in every other yard like Rafed describes in Vancouver, but enough that I see them driving around or walking the pups. I see a few on most every outing in the neighborhood.

Rafed, if it is Tacoma Violette, that would be great.  I will check with that person for more information for this variety.

Nichole, I don't know there are many figs in that area, I should move there. Or I should start giving fig trees to neighbors...  I know there are at least two other neighbors growing figs.
