I visited Tuscon for the first time last week.  I went to the Presidio part of town.  There is an area where they have recreated what Tuscon looked like when it was first founded.  They have a fig tree growing in the courtyard.  There was no fruit on it but it is growing very well and sprawling all over the area they have given it.  It looks like someone has been fertilizing it with quite a bit of nitrogen.  The woman who works there told me that the tree was grown from a cutting of the original tree that was planted when the Tuscon mission was established in 1776.  She said the original tree is still growing there.  I didn't see that tree as I was walking around.  She said that they will be offering cuttings for sale at some point in the future.  Thought I'd pass the info on.
