Two crop Celeste? or EBT?

a friend of mine has a tree in their yard - their landscape company planted it after killing their other fig tree.  it came with no labels, no source, nothing.

it fruited this year.  i'd like to ID.

at first look below, i bet a lot would say, "Celeste".  however, as this fruit is ripening and a lot of other Celeste nearby have finished their sole crop, this one is producing another crop on new growth!

i've heard anecdotal stories of two- and three-crop Celestes in warmer climates, but I've never actually seen one in Atlanta, and i've seen a LOT of Celeste trees.

below are pics.  note: fruit is ~20% larger than a typical Celeste and more round with a longer intermediate stem (almost no neck).  eye is VERY PINK and mostly closed (somewhat open).  leaves could be anything, 50/50 of three-lobe and five-lobe leaves, dominant shapes pictured.  looks like the skin would crack, which is pretty typical for ripe Celeste.  Couldn't get interior pic of the fruit.

so... is this a two-crop Celeste, or something else?

Buuuuuuuump.  I may go by and pick the fruit tomorrow or day after as a sample.

Celeste. My trees produce 2-3 crops. Started ripening the main crop mid-June and is still going. How old is the the tree now?

I to agree that this appears to be some form of a Celeste.

Well at least without seeing the fruit cut open. There is plenty of documentation that mentions multiple crops off of one tree. There appears to be many varieties of the Celeste that have developed over the years as well.

Chris

I'll try to get some fruit.

@Ruben, I agree it looks like Celeste... we just don't have many/any two-croppers here I've found.  This tree is on its second year in-ground, but probably third year from being a stick.  It was loaded with fruit this year, all fruit dropped last year (again, screaming Celeste trait there).

I would say Celeste as a working hypothesis.

Jason,

It surprises me that your Celestes just produces a single crop and are already done. That's like a breba-only variety. Your season is much too long for that. The pics I posted are of a tree I planted as a first-season cutting December 2009. It was killed to the soil line the following Winter. Notice the tag? Thanks, Willis Orchards!!
