TXBA-1 ...:::... NOT 2011

Supposedly TXBA-1. Grown from a cutting that I received from a well respected forum member on 11 Jan 2010. Picked today. Sweet. Juicy. Yellow skin. Yellow pulp. Seedless. Thick pith. Tough skin. A round golf ball sized fig. Average but definitely sweet honey taste.

It's a nice looking fig. Really good pictures, especially of the sliced fruit.  Thanks for sharing, as I think this is one of the first posts I have read from someone who has fruit from this fig.

That does look like a very nice fig but they really needs a better name.  Every time I see that TXBA-1, I'm thinking of a virus or a stain of the Flu.

Not sure what TXBA-1 is. This tree is ripening more of the same yellow figs with yellow pulp, thick pith, and tough skin. It is different from the image and description posted on the EL website (which is confusing).

Sweetest of our collection. Hardy in 7 if protected from the wind. The three light brown figs pictured to the left are Texas BA-1.Space 10' circle. Ripens @ 2 weeks later than Hardy Chicago. Zone 7-8.

Read it for yourself. Here is the picture of the three brown figs (cousins to the three blind mice) but I seem to be missing something.

Did I mention that there is another photo on the TXBA-1 page?
Here it is...breba and main crop maybe?

More photos of this fig. Does anyone have it in ground? Also, will someone please verify the skin and pulp color?

JD, I have a couple in pots.....but they are red like the first picture and very sweet.   cheers,

My Texas BA -1 has about a dozen green fruit. Hopefully they will ripen and I'll post pictures. How did yours do in 2012?

If this tree was supposedly found in a Texas A&M Alma trial field, does it bear any resemblance to an Alma? Doesn't Alma have a tight eye?

Wow! That is a good-looking fig. I want one. Thanks for posting, everyone.

sooo.. which one is the real TXBA-1? JD's yellow fig or that other other red/purple/green fig?

This tree now resides in FMD's orchard. It needed space to grow and more attention than I had to give it. Frank is making sure that it lives a long and decent life in a large fig family.

Pete,
My yellow inside and yellow outside fig is *not* TXBA-1. It was apparently mislabeled my source. I will edit the title of this thread to "TXBA-1 (Not)" to avoid any future confusion.

JD I repotted my largest TX-BA1 last month inside a whiskey barrel. When ripe, my figs are brownish red....kinda like Alma. It's an excellent tasting fig. This year, my tree is loaded with figs.

Hmmm!!!

I got my TX BA-1 from Frank so I wonder which one I have? LOL

Last year I had fruit but they did not reach full maturity. The two i ate were edible but nowhere near ripe. Hopefully this year I'll get some that are mature. It would be nice as I took cuttings from this one foregetting it is an unknown and I know have about forty UNKNOWNS!!!!
