UC Davis Early Violet

Good day, here is a picture of Early Violet.  Those I picked were seedy, tough skin, strong robust flavor but very good.  EV use to be common in the Carolinas.  I don't know what happened to them.   I have a few small trees that I grew last year from UCD cuttings.  I want to plant one in my orchard a few years from now. Enjoy!

bump.

I got 2 cuttings that rooted last year. Now I have 2 Early Violet fig trees growing. Can't wait to see the figs next year.

If looks mean anything, I think you have a winner for sure.

OK, in my best Tony the Tiger imatation, those look "Grrreat".

Tahnks for sharing, Dennis.  I have a soft spot for those dark figs with white frosted skin.  Any comments on the taste?

Jason, I wrote in my notes , not rich but strong mulberry flavor--excellent. From what I here, it's very hardy. My two trees still have leaves but my Celeste has none.

Celeste is even early to drop down here (not that I'm that far south)

I have this feeling that the "Early Violet" is not early ripening (not at all in my area). Many figs do ripen in my area but my 3 or 4 years old Early Violet has never ripened here. I intend to give it more chance for its looks when ripe.
