UC Davis fig performance reviews

Since we are all fig researchers when we receive cuttings, how can meaningful performance reviews as our trees grow and and produce fruit be given back to UCD? After a few years of growing figs in varied climates and feedback returned to UCD we should all know the elusive question " Does it need the wasp or not?" Is it more complicated?

I will be happy to report what happens, although I have just started their cuttings this year so for fruit I cannot contribute till next year other than growth for this year.

Thanks Tom,  I copied the link and will reference it in the future even though parts of the article leave a lot still to the "wait and see" arena.  I too have Zidi, Milco, Nazarti', Kalamata, Yede Vern and a few other exotics that I can't remember tonight.  I like big tropical looking leaves but I luv those melt in your mouth figs that have 2 crops with both crops being plentiful and multifunctional that you can eat fresh, preserve, dry, stew, etc. and get more cold tolerant, rodent resistant each year.  As long as I have room and a somewhat protected area to plant,  I will continue to experiment looking for that almost perfect fig tree like Martin is trying to coax out of his Black Ischia.  Our church has a huge courtyard with good 4 sided protection from the elements, good lighting too so just may have a Hardy Chicago fig growing there soon.

Zidi needs a wasp.

Somewhere in the USDA/UC Davis info there are indications about most of the varieties, as to their sexual preferences. You just have to dig a lot.
