UC.DAVIS HELP NEEDED

hi -I am new to this forum guess I am I the right place anyway here it goes -I was wanting to know HOW TO TALK TO SOMEONE A[ NUMBER] at uc.davis to see about ordering some different fig cuttings and maybe some other stuff .I know it would be a few months till I get the stuff but would like to start the ordering. I have been reading different things on here for awhile about you guys getting cutting fROM them.i live here in northwest fl and would also like to know what figs you guys think would do good here.thanks for any help in this matter also. we have lots of fig trees around here but like to try some we don't have.also I have 1 arce plus of land to work with.again any help in this matter would be great.if you need to you can P M me.

You have to get your order in by Nov and they ship Feb - early April.  Go to this page, formulate your search on the first line (I check only "by name") and click on the List button.  On the page that opens click on the link next to the name and if you want cuttings from that fig and it's available click, "request this germplasm" and you'll see a confirmation screen.  Go back (2 pages) to the page listing all the varieties and keep going down the list, selecting the ones you want.  When you're done follow the directions on the confirmation screen to submit your order.  If you don't see "request this germplasm" on a variety's page it's not available.  You can ask about availability but they'll just tell you why it's not available so it's a waste of time.

[List] all available (and unavailable ) NPGS accessions. Include images and historical accessions sorted by number or name .

i don't think they take order on the phone. if they do, i haven't heard about it. it's free service. you have to provide fedex or ups account number. sometimes, they will charge you for shipping. ask for ground shipping and the cost will be less.

you need to go to following link.

above is their fig holdings. you click on the fig that you want, and go down to "availability". if the cuttings are available for distribution, they will have a hot link you can click on. verify that the fig is on the list and you click on back button until you are out on above link again. keep adding things as you need then after the last one, you fill out the form completed and submit the order.

it's not hard, but it's not straight forward either.

thank you for the reply will go there and try also some one said I need to make a account with I think fed-x and if so do I need to do that first before I order my cuttings from -uc davis and when will I have to put out the money.thanks for any help guys.

When you set up your Fedex account you will have to furnish a credit card number. Your card will be charged when order is shipped. Set up your account first and when ordering put your account number in the remarks box.
