uc davis orders

Did anyone recieve a package from UCDavis yet?

Nope, not yet...

Sue

No not yet. But its been on my mind as of late , i did get a reply back when i placed the order several months ago as i emailed someone concerning a certain type after several emails back and forth and then i recieved a confirmation later that my order has been placed. I was glad for only 8.95 in stamps.

UC Davis said they will not ship until March.

by the way the flat rate shipping has gone up to over $9. you might want to check with them if they need additional stamps. I ended up openning a fedex account to make it easy and simple for them I made sure to ask to ship it ground and not express.

Bass,

Do you know the cost to ship it ground using the FedEx account?

i'm not exactly sure, but most likely around $20.

That's good news. Do you know how much you were charged for fedex?

Bass, last year my FedEX bill for my cuttings from Davis was over fifty dollars.  I did not order any this year.  Mainly because of the high shipping.

Vern

I asked for ground shipping, otherwise they will ship it express. So I hope I don't get a nice surprise. No wonder why they can't offord it anymore, they used to sent it with the express with required signature.
If they have used regular priority mail, their budget would still be in good shape.

I received all fig cuttings I requested from UCD in great shape.  They were each the diameter of a pencil or bigger, about a foot long and easily cut into  and still have several nodes. They were  shipped FEDEX express and my bill was
$27.93.  Like Dan said, these are very nice cuttings.

A friend in Orange County received his yesterday.

I got my order today. for some reason, some of the cuttings had mold. However most are in good condition. Still didn't get my bill through fedex.

Still waiting for mine.

Recieved 1 of 3 types of figs via United States Postal Priority Mail in a Fedx box today.
ordered

ischia black
santa cruz dark
rogue de bordeaux

rogue de bordeaux was not available on list but when i emailed Berni he said he would check then later said he could send but oh well.
So out of 3 i recieved 1  the santa cruz dark and nice scions indeed.

what i recieved santa cruz dark

Well
I guess, something is better than nothing? For now.

Jazz,
you hit the nail on the head!
Im very happy to have these, just need to get 1 to root so i have plant.

That this collection even survives, given the fundng constraints, is almost a miracle. Some trees are not in good shape, and not suitable for taking scion at this time. See pix of Adriatic at Figs 4 Fun, for example. They gather and ship a lot of scion, which is lobor and time intensive, with a very, very small staff, without charge to you, other than shipping. Even I cannot justify being that generous with the cuttings that I have. Be thankful, enjoy, an hope for better days ahead. ;-))
