UC Davis, quick question

I have a quick question for anyone that has used the UC Davis cutting program. I filled out the form, included my Fedex number and emailed it to the specified contact. I never heard anything back to confirm my order. Is this normal? I don't want to be a pest to them so I thought I would ask here.

Thanks

That's normal. I never received a confirmation the three times I ordered from them.

You can request a confirmation, but they do no send one otherwise.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll keep my fingers crossed and hopefully I receive some cuttings!

They typically ship cuttings in Feb-Apr, so you still have a bit of a wait.

Pitangdiego, thanks for the info. Good things come to those who wait , or so they say.

I got a confirmation for last year's order, and I just got mine in for next year this week.  No confirmation yet.  I didn't get my cuttings till late March this year.  But they sent every single cutting I ordered!  First come, first served with them.  Deadline to order is Dec. 1st.

The cool thing this year is I can take cuttings of my own grapevines and figs!!

Good luck with your order!

I've filled out the order form, but I'm holding it for another month or so.  I've done some research and I've picked five cultivars that might produce well in my climate.  I hope that's not too many to request.

Now to I have to get my wife to let me use her FEDEX account to pay the shipping....

I ordered 2 pomegranates (with amazing success in propatagion), 3 kinds of figs, 2 kinds of olives, and 13 kinds of wine grapevines.  They sent my entire request.

Most of the grapevines grew, but the fungus gnats got to a ton of them, and the olives didn't make it.  The fungus gnats got to most of my figs too.  Next year I'll be smarter!!

Andrew--unless something's changed, you can request up to 15 varieties.

How does the FedEx account thing work?  Do you open a FexEx account with a credit card on file and when UC Davis sends your cuttings they use your account number for shipping charges?

Cassandra, I have not done it yet, but I think you're correct...they charge your Fedex account for the shipping.  I think I remember reading a thread where the shipping came to around $31 USD, but I could be wrong.

You can also do it with  US account. Have them shipped ground, not overnight or 2-day. The cost saving is significant.

anyone have a link to the full list? I thought I had it bookmarked but I guess not. Also, need the link for pomegranate cuttings. Thanks.

Here's the 2010 list of accessions

Here's the NCGR main site.  You'll find pomegranates there.

I received a confirmation from Bernie that my cuttings will be shipped in March. I'm stoked!

It's pretty exciting when the box arrives! I wish you great success!
