UCD Barnissotte

Here are a couple of ripe main crop figs from my Barnissotte tree.  I started this tree from a cutting from UC Davis in 2010.  It has FMV pretty bad, but seems to be getting healthier every year as it matures.  The fruit is still quite variable at this point: some are large, some are small, some have an open eye, some are closed...  But the flavor is consistently very good.  If you are only going to grow one tree this is not it.  But if you are growing many different types then this is an interesting addition to a collection.  Enjoy.

Way to go Joe!  Looks amazing!  I remember the day you and walked the orchard at UCD.  How is your San Pietro doing?  I've got to get one of those one day.  My 2 Black Ischias are doing great.  Figs grow fine with FMV and most trees do better over time.  My Barnissotte fruited last year and it was quite good too!  Can't wait to taste them again this year!  NIce pics!

Thanks Dennis.  I sent you a PM.

Sounds about normal. I have had similar experiences.

Jon that is good to know.  This plant was so sick from FMV when it was small.  I'm just glad that it made it and is producing fruit.  I'm hoping that it will keep getting better as it matures.
