UCD Pied de Boeuf pics

Here's another good fig that you don't hear too much about, Pied de Boeuf.  It's a dark fig so I think Martin will like it!  :)  It was excellent.

Pretty. Looks like a big tree.

I have heard of this type but never really looked it up.
Thanks for the pictures Dennis and keep em coming Please .  ; )

That brings up a good question...Why are so many of the trees at UCD so small? Anyone know? I would think they are pretty old (most of them anyway). The trees around here are much bigger. Check these out.

Ruben, most trees are huge.  If I could not get the tree in zoom, I just did not waste my time taking the picture.  Some trees were in the middle of the orchard and were not getting much sun.  Those were a bit shorter.  But not all trees are the same age.  Again, UCD only cares about genetics of figs.  But the orchard is laid out nicely.  Some trees like Panachee were so tall that in order to reach the fruit, you had to use their 12' ladder and JON HOGGED THE LADDER!!!!!!

Thanks Ruben! The dog peeing on the fence made my day.

@Dennis- too funny!

@James- lol. used him for scale.

Dennis,
Thank you for sharing pictures.  I got one of the Pied de Boeuf cutting survived, so I am happy to see the original tree.  How was the taste?
