UCD Santa Cruz Dark

It's hard to believe I started this cutting this year.  This one plant produced a fig larger than I thought it would be from looking at the data base pictures.  Can't wait to give it a try.

You may like it (sweet) gave away few years back to make room for others types as it rated low in our yard but thats my palate only.  ; )
Nice looking interior.

few yrs back when i joined the forum, there were some talk about this fig. some rated it high.. then after a yr or two, no one talked about it. from the post i've read, there are better figs to be had. i'm growing one right now so i can judge it for my own taste. i hope it's good, but sure grows like a champ :)

I have had some some really big figs from first year figs this year, and they were more like brebas, not much flavour and more likely to split/crack that I would have expected.

I have a two years old SCD plant. I am happy that it has cropped well this year. I hope the fruit will ripen because we still have about 50 more ripening days left until frost in Ottawa.
