Violette de Bourdeaux at UCD was excellent tasting!  This tree was loaded and just made me smile!  Everybody should have one of these trees!  Enjoy!

Is this recent or last years visit?

Last years.....I will post 2012 later in Sept.

Great pics, Dennis! Thanks!!

Sure makes the dark side enticing !

Thanks for posting those great pics.  I'm hoping my VdB has time enough to ripen the figs this year.

i can't wait. the main crop for my VdB is turning color and swelling..

Nice Pics Dennis. Complete agreement with your comments. If you can make a VdB work in your environment, it is the best bang for the buck. To me it represents value.

I had one cutting of this UCD variety survive this year so far.  The leaves sure seem to look different than the Negronne EL that I have.

Yeap, my research proved that VdB, Negronne, and Petite Negra are not the same tree.  They might be cousins or something but not completely the same.  I have all 3 including Beers Black in my orchard.  So far this year my Black Mission is giving me some awecome good figs this year.  I am so happy.

My VdB is still very small. I just ate a huge plate of Celesle, Almas and Brown Turkey. Had a couple LSU Purple, a Hardy Chicago and one Gino's and man a few VdB would have really added just the thing to my fig pig jig. I added Vista this year and Petite Aubique. Anxiuos to see how other VdB types stand up to the flavor test. Also interested to see if my new negronne is in fact a VdB. Those figs sure look good Dennis.
