From the story I heard UCD brought cuttings of 5 'new' figs to San Diego for trial with members of CRFG. They had actual numbers/names but someone 'bumped' the table and everything went flying and all got mixed up. Well that ended the trial but one of the members didn't want the cuttings to die so offered to grow them. They are growing in the front of her home on Cape May in the Point Loma area. When I found them the home was for rent. I called the number and asked if I could take cuttings. I got the OK. Since they have no ID I just called them UCD #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5. There may be more to the story but that's all I could get from the owner when I called. Her trees were 10-12' tall and all had fruit.
When I get home I'll dig up the photos I have of the fruit and post them. I have not tasted any of the fruit but it may be a good time to take a trip down there and check them out.
