UCDavis Ischia Black

My one huge success from this year's UCD cuttings... I attribute it to SIP technology as the others floundered with FMV in regular pots.

Frank, Your plants look good .....started some cuttings in them the other day after I saw your post....btw the Sal c's are doing great had some small figs on them that are not going  to ripen. cant wait to try them next year..lost the atreno and Yugo blk to gnats....thanks again for sharing

Thanks for the links Frank. If you were going to do a bunch of cuttings could you just put all the cups (with drainage holes on the bottom) into a tote that you would keep an inch or so water in? That would make it one big SIP with multiple wicks. There wouldn't be a difference in performance just easier to setup right?

I don't think so Tyler. That's not a good way of regulating how much water the containers would absorb. That's what the drain hole is for. Too much water and the cuttings rot. Too little water and they dry out. 

Here's another huge advantage. From the the day I placed the Ischia Black in the SIP I have not needed to add any more water to the reservoir.

Frank, that is a very nice looking tree. Hope if fruits for you next year.

Leaves look good and healthy and the tree as a whole looks down right good.  99% FMV free. Hope it stays that way for you.
