UCDavis Shipments

Here it is almost the first of March and no UCDavis cuttings yet.

Have the rest of you still waiting on UCDavis?

I'm not that disappointed; had they been delivered earlier the driver would probably have left them out to freeze.  I came home two days ago after dark and went to bed.  The next morning I found an envelope with a $3, 000 check in it frozen under the windshield wipers on my van.  The UPS deliveryman stuck it there sometime after I left home the day before.  Had he put it on the porch I could not have overlooked it.  On the windshield any passerby could have spotted it from the road during the day.

Ho Ox,
well i hope yours get delivered properly.
Last season according to the old post cause my memory stinks for the most part .
Last season earliest delivery from UcDavis was March 5th to member.
I recieved mine March 12th.
This season i did not order but if anyone ordered ischia black scion and has 1 or more that they want to part with had a change of mind etc i will be glad to take care of any expense involved.

I'm still waiting...

Bass put up a post on G-W stating he had spoken to someone and they are packaging to be sent out in the next few weeks.

March 13 th and still no cuttings , does anybody recived yours yet ?

Ox,
I sent that $3000 check. I'm a good and giving man. I show compassion.
O.k, So I'm lying.

But hope you get your cuttings soon. I know you've been anxious to receive them and get them started.

Good luck

I haven't received my UCDavis cuttings yet either.

Joe

By the time we get our cuttings from UCD they'll be leafed out!!

last time I spoke with them they said that they took all the cuttings and they'll be shipping them within two weeks. That was two weeks ago. So be patient, I think they're understaffed.

Guys and Gals look in your mail next week and send me all the Ischia  Blacks  you dont want for experimentation and i will pay dearly for them.

I may actually have extra UCD cuttings available, we will see what they actually send.  Anyone else in the same position, and interested in trading?  This is what I may have coming in, the only ones I won't trade are Native De Argentile and Vernino.

DFIC0027 - Beall
DFIC0144 - Black Madeira
DFIC0005 - Conadria
DFIC0050 - Conadria
DFIC0020 - Excel
DFIC0086 - Native De Argentile
DFIC0001 - Vernino
DFIC0063 - Violette De Bordeaux

Just a word of caution sometimes a person will not get all that they ordered from UcDavis as i have and perhaps a few others experienced last season but then there is always next season to look forward to .
But i hope everyone gets the ones they wanted most .

I only care to get the two mentioned.  I figure I may only get 50% if I'm lucky.  Whatever above and beyond those two I get, I'll trade!

I just got an email that I have a package on its way from Brenard Prins via Fedex. I think thats the guy at UCD. I have my fingers crossed that its the fig cuttings. I've also ordered cuttings from Corvalis, OR and Geneva, NY.

Anxiously awaiting,
Little John

Likewise, I just got notification that mine has shipped.  Bernard is in fact the guy @ UCD handling fig scion.

Last year they were also very late (March); must be some change in policy.
This year I did not order any - maybe next year...

Just got emailed tracking number for  cuttings from UCDavis, I should get my cuttings some time on this week Wednesday.

Copy that. My tracking number arrived today as well. Cuttings due on Thursday.

Mine arrived just now.  The cuttings are huuuuuuge, some almost 16" long (that's an 8½" piece of paper underneath).   I got all seven that I ordered, 3-4 each except only one short tip cutting of Conadria...

I started two Conadria from another member months ago, one went downhill this week, both have been sitting with the terminal bud sleeping since they started rooting two months back (weird), but at least one may survive, so ... maybe getting only one Conadria from UCD won't be a big deal....

No way I need to use all of this plant material, but I really do appreciate all of it.  Best part:  All tip cuttings.  Nice thickness on them too.  I can definitely lop off some 3-4 node cuttings from each for any trading.  Just know, UCD material is nearly all infected with FMV supposedly, so ... If this is a problem for you .....

I just got mine too. Yea, they sent a lot of wood! Probably could cut each of these babies into 2 or 3 cuttings easily. Out of the 15 that I ordered 3 were not available. Only a couple were one cutting samples but most were 3 cutting lots. This is cool!

Good to hear. How much did the shipping end up costing you? Mine has not shown up on the CC yet.

I logged into FedEx, shipment hasn't shown up in the system yet, so no clue what it cost.  2nd day in the box they sent in normally ranges between $25-$40, depending on the actual weight.  I reckon my shipment will be around $25, plus or minus a couple bucks.

And realistically, @ 19 cuttings which could actually be chopped into 40-45 cuttings, that comes out to around $1/cutting shipped...that's about 50% less than what I've averaged on buying cuttings in the past.  I typically pay around $2/cutting with shipping for those figlovers who charge.  And with Vernino and Native de Argentile.... at least the latter of the two, seems almost impossible to find, so this is a total "win" or "score" in my book.

I just realized I only got a single Black Madeira as well...but, again, I got three amazing cuttings from a fellow figfriend recently, so I'm good to go there as well.  All others were 3 cuttings.

I am curious about when you who have received either tracking info and/or cuttings already placed your orders? Would you mind sharing please? I placed my order on Sept. 8th and got my confirmation number emailed back on Sept. 9th.

I imagine those who have already heard placed their orders earlier?

Thanks!

I got my cuttings., they`re so long so I cut them all to half .
Bluesguy, I placed my order mid November.

I place my orders in late Nov/early Dec, if memory serves correctly.  I made the deadline by 3-4 weeks.

Jason, Do you have any info about the Native de Argentile? I have not heard of it before.
