I recently offered VdB cuttings.  I had a lot of responses.   Mostly newbies requested.  I sent.

I did not expect reimbursement for postage.  Many of you reimbursed me, which I didn't expect, and a couple of you reimbursed plus bought me lunch!  Woohoo!!

Just saying, it's worth it to prune your tree, and send the cuttings to those who don't have that variety.  The gratitude is amazing!

I got an actual thank you card in the mail.  No money.  Just appreciation!  Wow!!  But the card came from someone who did reimburse postage.  Made me shed happy tears!

Please trim your tree and make an offer to members.  We are family!

Can you give advice on the best time to trim? Just new years growth?

brianm, I trim my trees when they go dormant, or when all the leaves have fallen off.  I trim for shape, and sometimes I trim older growth that has made the tree a little lopsided.  I try to leave some new growth for breba crops also, but I pretty much get rid of growth that is crossing in the middle causing confusion.  That's just me.  I like an open center.

RichinNJ, I apologize.  There was so much mail in my pm's that it was 95% full, and I had to delete some.  I must have deleted your message on accident in all the confusion.  I do remember the offer, but not your screen name, and I tried to find it in the message box, but it just was gone.  I'm truly sorry and I wish I had more cuttings to make it up to you, but they are all gone.

it's plain fun sending out cuttings. it's probably only time i go to post office now days. just making someone smile is all the thanks i need :)
