Here's a fig I had last summer on my Dark Portuguese, I later found a couple like it on same tree. This seem similar to the Dall'osso fig variety which has a high percentage of figs showing this shape.

Hey Bass. I've seen a fair number of fruits that look like this from the parent trees of that Haikel (poss. Brunswick) fig.

Yeah Bass i get those on ocassion on several types of fig plants.
Posted pic long ago and if i recall properly someone called it a mule fig or something.


On another note
Have a several year old picture of a mission fig  i call the "butt fig"  - use your imagination on how it looks cause it looks just
like that.  ; )

so what separates Dall'Osso from deformation of the fig? they are very unique.

They appear to be a fig the forms in the eye of the first fig. I see them from time to time, on a different varieties.

Fico dall'Osso seems to be a documented known variety. i heard there are different colorations also.

I have an Italian variety. (unk.) That was loaded with figs that were deformed like the one that Bass had.
If you look at the bowl at the top left of the picture you'll see a few of them.

Jon true , the Butt fig i mentioned had 2 separate eyes and looked just like well a big round double cheeks and all.

looking further into Dall'Osso, the true Dall'Osso will have hard embryo on the bottom when cut open.
