WOW! Unique skin. What is name of this variety ? Where do they originate ?Thanks for showing these to us !! Fredfig-7/NC
Looks like a cross between a fig and a pine cone, or a very short snake that swallowed a fig.
Not a fig but salak.
Definitively a photo-job form someone with plenty of free time on his/her hands...

Nelson, they are delicious and crunchy. Usually used as a desert. Good old days in Malaysia, they were sold mainly by street hawkers and the trees were mostly wild & found in somewhat swampy like land.
a.k.a. snake fruit. cool!
Bass ..., You must be kidding ........But you could named it as ficus " Salacca z " in this forum ...lol Best regards
Hey Paul, I never tasted it but seen it once for sale at china town here in Toronto. It did have me tripping out a little bid definately does look like snake skin.
Ya, they sell it here but mostly in bottled or canned. common to find them in Vietnamese owned mama & papa stores. Bass -- good one you got. Actually I checked Wiki.... and they describe it as fig like appearance. I should have thought of it & told Rafed to sample one when he was here.
I was thinking .... snake balls
It is Salak, when I first saw this fruit it seemed like a weird fig. lol
It certainly is reptilian in appearance, very cool!
So what are its growing requirements?
