Unk Afghanistan 7-21-14

Unfortunately the timing of our first real rain in over a month was not good but we did need the rain. This is the first of this variety this year and it is a little on the watered down side but it is still not bad. It weighed in at 59.50 G or 2.099 oz. It is on the melon side with no seed crunch. There are plenty more to come and I will do the rating on future figs and update this thread.

thx 4 the info - will be interested in your rating.

A local nursery had once sold an "Afghan fig" but was never able to get it to grow well or fruit. I've noticed that they no longer carry the tree. Yours is likely different than the one I had seen (sorry, can't offer a good description from memory), but is this a difficult tree to grow?

I ended up wit a couple of fig labeled Afgan-e, they are just barely 2 ft high so no figs this year.... I wonder what they will be.

Arne, this is the easiest and most healthy tree I have. Figs growing in bunches but I wasn't sure how it would react to
lost of rain. At least it did not split just a little watered down.
