Jake, you took the words out of my mouth. even at that young age it obviously does not have Black Madeira's leaves which are typically much less ornate, more like a tri lobed shape. That does not mean it is not a good fig, only way to know that is to eat it of course.

We are correct! It is NOT Black Madeira. That rules out any confusion, thank god. Now I want to see fruits! I'm hungry.

Oh it is fine.... Your on the right track. The cuttings I had were really clean, and seemed like it was on old wood. Really depends on the cut of the cutting. We get different results. Mine was weird, all of them rooted...fast

Jenn, it may not be THE black Madeira but it is a cutie!!!   Good luck with it!

Tony - sorry I missed this thread over the last 2 weeks -OF COURSE we are still FRIENDS!!

I was just kidding  Jo-Ann :)

Tony - of course you were!!!  I have a pretty thick skin like a brown turkey LOL LOL LOL   I almost always take things like a grain of salt and err on the side of humor - especially on forums when most of us don't really know each other outside of the forum.  And the most important thing is not to react to a message that may sound off - I try to respond instead;)  Of course this works out great in my world - when others are involved........... well, I try!!

So, do you like your sp moss a little more salty, and maybe toasted?

I love that you are always happy. Yes these are not Black Madiera. But it will be interesting to try fruits.

here is a pic, kind of blurry but after making air more accessible AND less moisture (in case it was one and not the other) all of the white stuff went away. many of the cuttings rooted, some I'm still waiting on...

Great pictures, thanks for showing them.

I see it. From my experience, I believe your cuttings will root just fine. It will take a while maybe two more weeks or less. I hope to see more. This will help everyone to determine whether or not this is BT-lol

you have a beautiful family (avatar).

I never gave him a fig also he cannot reach them in the pot .

My dogs love BT from Costco. I feed it to them. To my surprise "no doggie farts", puppies love Asian Pear Apple

thanks Jennifer! BTW this wasn't the worst of them, it was the only pic i still had. some of the others were really covered in the stuff. I'm not checking them for another week or two.

Asian pears ROCK!! so juicy, crunchy, sweet .... I hope one day I have them in my backyard alongside my figs.

Thanks Jennifer!!  There is always a silver lining even though I may not see it!  Don't sweat the small stuff - it's all small stuff.  ALWAYS try to have a plan "B" - the back up - you never know;)

No matter what problems, issues, or whatever is going on in my life - believe me there is a bunch of stuff - someone out there is worse off and could use a hand, a fig or a cutting;)

Hi, I am new to the forum. I purchased the same unknown madeira on EBAY thinking it was the black madeira.  cuttings should arrive soon. I got the bug after rooting some RDB cuttings.  It was fun to watch them develop.

Jennifer,  I am curious as to how yours are looking now.  Still with the ornate leaf? My feeling is that if this a  black fig from Madeira, it will be fun to see how they turn out, even if it not THE Black Madeira.  it could end up as good as or better than Black Madeira.
