UNK. Pastiliere

Here is my Unk. Pastiliere I got from Jon last year, has a couple figs this year will see how it does.

Looks beautiful.  I literally just recently started trying to root cuttings from a Canadian figfriend.  I'm hoping for some success.  Looks like a tasty fig.

Jason, this is one of my favorite plants its got beautifull leaves. My Pastiliere from Baud never had fruit this big it dropped all of its figs 2 season's in a row so it has now found a new home. I dont plan on getting rid of this one EVER no fruit drop yet. Got my finger's crossed.

I also have cuttings of the Baud Pastiliere and am trying to root.  I understand it apparently needs caprification.  This is probably why you're seeing fruit drop as you are.

Please keep this thread updated with pictures as that fruit comes to ripen!  I want to see what I'm in for.  ;)

The leaves look like Black Madeira/Fico Preto to me somewhat.

Hey Jason, yes leaves on the unk. Pastiliere are different than the Pastiliere from Baud even the texture is different Pastiliere from Baud has a rough texture almost sandpaper like. I grew these side by side for 2 season's and until Last week I have not seen one leaf that looked the same.

Wish I would of taken more pics this is the only pic I have of Pastiliere from Baud.

I have a Strawberry and Verte (may be the same variety) that have that leaf texture.  Have you ever felt shark's skin before?  The leaves feel like shark skin to me.

I meant to say earlier that the shape reminds me of my Preto & BM, but the serration is missing and the Preto & BM leaves are dark and shiny.  Verte and Strawberry (my young ones) have the same leaf shape and color as the Pastiliere Unknown you have pictured in your first post, including the distinct leaf serrations.

Jason you are right, my strawberry, Preto & BM do have the same texture. No I have never felt shark skin and hope I never do LOL sharks terrify me.

Nice looking fig Nelson,

Just got some cuttings from you know who not too long ago. He will be sending me a plant or an air layer soon.

Thanks Rafed,

If that doesn't work out let me know.

No problem Nelson,

I am in Tacoma, Wa. I will be in Vegas by the weekend and next weekend I will be in Orlando, Fl.

From there I am working on a load going to Guelph. Let me know if you need anything.

I might end up getting stuck in Florida  for the weekend so I might end up going to Sals place and drink some beer and wine.

Oh I wish I was stuck in florida for the weekend lol. Im good got more than enough to play with, but thanks for the offer. Unless you have Gazir lol no no I cant.

I think I have one. Not too sure as it was struggling. I will let you know later.

Rafed, dont even think about it. I know how you are, if you do have it please keep it. I am in no rush for new figs.

Nelson,

If I'm going to take then I'm going to give.
That's how I roll.

You are worse than I am when it comes to giving.

Hey, I need a Doce for a lady fig friend.

Your aunt?  ;)

Get out of here Jason. LOL

Wrong person and wrong thread

LMAO, Jason your quick lol.

Good one !

Couple months ago I sent some cuttings to Cathy.
My wife packed and shipped them to her and when they arrived Cathy asked what was the Doce cutting all about?

I said it wasn't supposed to be included but since it happened then to go ahead and keep it.

Cathy offered to return it but I refused to allow her. I said since it happened by accident then it was meant for her and that I was happy for her.

I asked her yesterday how it was doing and she responded by saying it wasn't doing anything.

I told her I will make sure she gets one. I have one but it is way too small to do any cuttings so this is why I asked Nelson for help.

CAPEESH?

Nelson please post picture if you do not mind in future of the Unk Past, this is one i was considering and asked Jon but not avaiable at the time in case my UcDavis Past continues to forget to ripen its figs before they drop.   ; )

I would like to see exterior and interior of the fig for personal reasons .
Thanks

Bump for Nelson response or anyone that has this unknown pastilere to talk about weather it figs persist or not.

Did not work for me but it went to a patience home.
