Unk. Yarmouth #1 Breba

Got this Tree last year from a fellow old timer down the street from my Parents house produces lots of tasty breba's but have not got any ripe main crop yet. Hopefully this year I will.

Nelson, how do you do it?  All your figs look so good.  Amazing to see such great figs growing in Canada.  Keep up the good work.

There you go again making me jealous .........

Who needs main crop when the brebas look that good . I gotta get rid of the mediocre breba varieties ( gillette , white marseilles , grimo ficazanna etc.) to make room for figs like that .

John

Thanks Ed, not really doing anything special just think some of these local unknowns are healthy strains.

John this is one of the figs I got from Vince's dad.

Ed its his soil. Can't find it here but want it.

Any possibility of an air layer ?

John

Hello Nelson, Congratulations
Nice tree and better fig !! It must be very sweet.
I am sure it has potential to be a winner in every respect.
Skin color as well as its profile. The sample selected for the pic #2 shows exactly what the meaning is for 'like a pear' and/or 'like an oignion'. not easy to document in a single picture - good luck Nelson
Francisco

Hi Francisco it was very sweet infact my uncle didn't like it he said it was too sweet. He likes unripe lattarula figs better lmao.

Keep them pictures coming there nice to see.
Nelson do you still have that website listing ?

Hey Martin as they ripen Ill take pics the only ones so far that didn't make it were the vdb el Brebas jasmine loves those told her it was from uncle Martin.

No website is down I have over a thousand pictures to sort out first.

Hey Nelson,

Someone would like some cuttings of this or a small plant. Can you guess who it is?

It's a beauty. Thanks for the pic's.

Is this another guessing game? ...uh, will there be a prize if we are right? ;)

Ok got some main crop last year any idea what it could be???

Sadly I lost my mother tree this winter but my dad has a little plant so I hope he can airlayer me a plant next year.

Main crop

This one was a little watery ripened Oct 8th

This darker one ripened first end of sept 2013

This looks very much like nick's ( johnnyq627) Sodus Sicilian. The color ( inside and out)and shape of the fruit and the leaves as well look very much like it, too. The unk. Sodus Sicilian grows in the ground near Rochester on Lake Ontario and is very cold hardy. I wonder if it could be the same?

not really http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/sodus-sicilian-6525738?highlight=sodus+sicilian&pid=1284264571#post1284264571

I actually have it and of the multiple fruit I've had from it, I believe it does share some similar characteristics. Do you have it to compare?
