A friend sent me a picture today of his fig tree.  It's starting to ripen.  The ripe ones are greenish/yellow and he says they are good.  (He's never had a fig before).  I only have the one picture so far.  I will get pictures of the leaves and of the ripe figs, whole and cut in half, this weekend and post those.  If someone could help identify this tree, I'd be grateful.  

Looks very nice, quite productive. A more detailed shot of the leaves and  bisected, ripe fruit would help those who can identify it.

Ok, Here are pictures of the unknown fig.  As it turns out, I think there are 2 unknowns.  I have the pictures labels tree #1 and tree #2 just to keep them straight.  The figs on tree #1 aren't ripe yet.  They are a lighter green than tree #2 and the leaves have 5 lobes.  Tree #2 has some ripe but some aren't.  The unripe on tree #2 are darker green and looks like they have ribs on them.  The ripe ones are a very light yellowish-green.  Tree #2 looks to have mostly 3 lobed leaves.

It sure looks like a tasty fig.  Hope you scored some cuttings!

They aren't very sweet, I would say mildly sweet.  A little crunch to the seeds but not much; almost a melon type taste to it; somewhat juicy.  Not the best I've ever had but not the worst by far.

The yellow looks like the LSU Gold, the flat bottom is characteristic, if it ripens with a lot of brown sugar spots and drips honey it is LSU Gold.  The cluster is kind of different ???

The green with the red center looks like Verte/Ischia green  both good figs.  The Verte is a late ripening fig, at least the donor tree where I got mine (mine) is.

Thanks, Danny.  Tree #2 has ripe ones that are large, yellowish-green, tiny white spots on them, no honey, no brown spots, they seem to have a tendency to split at the eye.  I can't say much about tree #1 as it had no ripe ones yet.

I'm bumping this back to the top b/c of the lack of responses.  It may be b/c of the title of the thread.  Maybe I need to start a new thread with a more intriguing title....lol.  =)  But seriously, if anyone has any ideas about what these 2 trees may be, I'd appreciate your input.  Thanks,
