UNKNOWN Fig cuttings for postage

Today I went to  see a friend on Pine Island (FL) and he was trimming his fig tree. It still had two ripe fruits: they looked like Jon's "Double Header" but my friend had forgotten the name so I call them simply UNKNOWN. I tasted one and it was sweet with almost no seeds. The only negative for me, it had a medium eye. I asked for a branch and made some cuttings I want to share with members.
Anyone interested can PM me.
I should have cuttings for 8 to 10 people.

Nice offer Sal.  I guess it's good to not call it "Sal's Unknown".   Um, that's a joke just in case anyone out there takes it seriously... but Sal, seriously, you've got a famous name among fig people.  :-)

Mike

I must agree with you Mike
With "Sal's Corleone", "Sal's fig", Salem and all the confusion of synonyms, who needs another Sal?

They are all gone

I got mine and they are in the incubator (sp moss).  Until I can come up with something better, I've labeled these "Sal's DH".

Thanks, Sal!

One of your unknowns has already started rooting after 10 days! (started on 2/23)

The little one on the very bottom of my pic above has 3 roots up to 1cm long.  That's the fastest I've ever had anything root.

I don't know what kind of mutant cuttings you sent me, but I think they were getting ready to get up and walk away!

All 4 of your "Unknowns" have rooted in less than 11 days.  I'm not sure when these two pictured below started rooting.  But I'm guessing it must have been at least 2 or 3 days ago. I hadn't noticed these two yesterday.

I think I'm going to cut both of these in half, just below a root group.

The LSU Purple and Peter's honey, in the same bin, have no signs of roots yet.

I guess the fact that they were ready to come out of dormancy might explain the fast rooting.
