Foxcroft. The 10' tall by 10' wide mother tree grows undisturbed in the Foxcroft subdivision. The figs primarily consumed by birds and other wildlife are delicious. I am confident that it is a Celeste but I will give it a full season of fruiting before it graduates from Unknown Foxcroft to Foxcroft Celeste. On 27 February 2010, with the permission and assistance of the owner, I dug up and potted a sucker with a nice root ball. Late this summer was the first time the tree budded and most dropped. Fortunately, two ripened on 12 October 2011. They were Celeste sweet and juicy even though two days constant drizzle caused one of the two to split.

JD.. No matter the name, they are great looking. Makes my mouth water.

JD, I was just reminded - still have two of these, one of them went in the ground a couple feet from the creek behind my house over the weekend.  I'm hoping it takes off sooner than later, because those look pretty awesome!  (I agree, looks like a Celeste variant)

(btw - any word on what Meridien/Meridian may be?  i have one of those doing well also, curious what to expect...)

Jason,

I trust that Foxcroft will take off. This should be a good season for the tree I have here. It has a nice collection of want to be figs. After tasting a few from last season, more would be nice for this season. I plan to visit the mother tree this summer to compare tastes. If it is as good as I remember, then I will search for another sucker to dig up and put in the ground here at home.
