I was browsing online today and came across some unknowns being sold by Rare Find Nursery in NJ. Didn't find anything searching the forum or elsewhere, but thought some of you with more space than I might be interested.

Red Nancy and White Nancy, apparently brought over from Italy. I'd assume pretty cold hardy being in NJ. $25/ea for a 1 gallon pot.

Funny, the photo they provide for "Red Nancy" does not look like a fig bush.  On 2nd look maybe it is a fig with an unusual growth habit i.e. it doesn't look as "clubby" as most figs do when dormant.

I see what you mean, Steve. I'll bet the shade being next to the house makes it leggy, but the bark looks right.

Seems sketchy borrowing a photo from a Maryland blogger's page to promote a fig supposedly found in NJ.

Odd. Oh well, I've no skin in the game. Rarefind is supposed to be reputable for ornamentals. Just thought I'd share.

The owner of the photo may be letting the site use it and they simply have a tree from the original source.  Who knows.  Call or Email them and ask, would be interesting to know.

The dark fig,or red, looks like any other celeste grows in the south but you never know with figs!
The white fig( if the pic is consistant with the actual tree) looks a lot like an Atreano! Figs leaves and all!

Danny,
I clarified our description on the web site better and I should have used double quotes on the name rather than the single quotes that were used which designate a cultivar. We needed to call them something so we just used the name of my neighbor whom I got the cuttings from. IE "White Nancy" is NOT a cultivar, just our working name until we can ever identify the trees. I posted pictures of the dormant white tree on the website, the "red" one is already there. Like I said in the description, the "white" one is much more spreading in habit. Sorry for the confusion but the pic that was there of the leaves and fruit was intended as a generic pic because I don't yet have one from the actual leaves/fruit. Your group would be a great resource to help us identify them.

Last winter both trees were severely damaged and had to be cut back drastically. I have not seen them yet.

I think I know where these two unknowns are located in South Jersey. Two in-ground trees - one white and one red. Nancy is the name of the owner, hence 'White Nancy' and 'Red Nancy'.
I hope I get to taste the figs so I can report back to the forum...
Any of you guys have grown these 2 varieties?

I would just avoid this sight at this point and stick with buying from reputable forum members. That or the rare Gem of collectors that don't use computers

I bought a hardy Chicago from them roughly 4 weeks ago. It's fruit is already ripening.
