Unknown Italian Fig

I talk to my friend Joe and he told me the stick he gave me was not from Bari Italy as i had previously thought. This stick was recieved from state of Emilia Romagna about 10 k from city of Bolonia or Bologna i think their same? He spelled Bolonia over the phone.
Anyways this fig is first ever off tree its produced after 3 seasons i first noticed it swelling thursday eve and was excited after all first one well it had everything going against it weather wise after close to 9 inches of rain Friday thru Sunday afternoon. So i picked today after it was bent down and soft it maybe would fall. I ate and was very surprised at the sweetness of it, kind of like my Sals figs but a different type of sweet taste if thats possible it has a mild fig taste after the sweetness goes away i noticed. For me i need to taste more to figure this 1 compared to others. I dont think the fig showed true taste and maybe not skin color yet being first fig and having the rain we did. Actually i did not think i would get to try this 1 fig after all the rain we had but it survived. Maybe i have 2 to 4 more still green not sure if i will get to try those. But i look forward to next year with more excitement now with this tree to taste the figs .

Hi Martin,

Thank you for following up with the Italian locality origin of your fig tree.

I had asked you about where in Bari it was from, since my wife's family is from towns of Molfetta and Giovinazzo in the Bari province.  Although it's still and "unknown" Italian fig, at least you know where it actually hails from.

Thanks again for the follow up.

Joe
