Unknown Negretta

I had my 1st ripe fig from this plant yesterday. I received it last year as Piccola Negretta, or Unknown Negretta, from a member who got it from Marius. It is said to have originated in Benevento, Italy. It has a red pulp. Negretta has more of an amber pulp, which is why this one is called Unk. or Piccola. That is the story as I understand it. For me, it is a beautiful and tasty, smallish fig, on a compact plant. Gorgeous leaves, slender and long fingered. Seems prolific in setting fruit. I've had a few requests for cuttings, based solely on its ornamental beauty. Growing next to it, also in a large pot, is a Nero 600m. So far, I cannot tell a difference between these 2 plants. They look nearly identical. I've yet to taste fruit from the Nero, but will get to soon. I'd like to know if anyone has both, and what you might think. Any other insights welcome as well. Here are pics of the Unk. Negretta.

I got some cuttings last year. M8ne looks very similar. But i have leaves like your and other half of tree has single lobed leaves. No fruit yet. And i didnt keep track of where my cuttings came from. I was new to trading and didnt bother to keep track. Richie from louisiana

" But i have leaves like your and other half of tree has single lobed leaves."  Sounds like a Petite Negri/Petite Negra...
On another note, my VDB produces nearly identical to my PN, with only one difference worth noting: the PN has some branches with single lobed leaves while the VDB has mostly consistent leaves (which are virtually identical to the non-single lobed leaves on my PN).  Some people say they are the same cultivar, maybe they are and the single lobes are produced from environmental factors from slight differences in soil/light/ etc.  I really don't know for sure.  Just wanted to share that your "unknown" might likely be a PN cultivar.

I love this tree, not sure why when I haven't even tasted it yet.  Your right it does grow compactly, even the one I have in the ground stays smallish and has very close internodal spacing.
The grounded one just produced a few figlets this week that I pinched off.  I left a dozen figs on my 5 gallon one, hoping mine are as tasty as yours.

Don what variety is your tree?

It was sold to me as Piccola (sp?) Negretta.

Hi, Don, This first picture is that of the Valle Negra. The second picture Is the true Negretta that I got from Martin.

I think yours looks more like my Valle Negra shown here in the first picture.
