UNKNOWN OC

Anyone have any more info on this fig with "hearty flavor"?  Thanks.

Here's Jon's photos

Some show a purple fig, some show a yellow fig.  Can that be?

What you see is what you get. Do not know what it is. Nice Honey fig with a good, hearty flavor. I was an unknown when I got it. Still is.

How about breba vs not.  Are some purple, some yellow or do all go from yellow to purple but stop in between?  Is the main crop early or late?  Big eye, OK in cool, wet weather or no?  I'm just asking what you've observed.   I couldn't resist anything that says, "hearty flavor".  Now that 3 have rooted I'm even more curious.  It's a long wait from roots to figs.  :)

Thanks for any answers, Jon and who ever else has this.

So, this is Falls Gold. All three are ripe, all picked on the same day from the same tree. So, figs vary in color depending on a lot of different factors, including that "they feel like it". That's what figs do. If all figs always looked exactly like all other figs of the same variety, then IDing them would be easy. It is part of the "fun."

Jon,  would you by any chance conclude  the above Falls Gold is actually Alma. I have your Falls Gold strain.

Is Fall Gold(Alma) & Falls Gold The Same

edit: broken link removed... see below.  Thanks. :)

Does not behave at all like my Alma, or look like it. Cannot speak for Fall Gold.

OK, but does it have a tight eye, breba crop, early season, resist spoiling in the rain?  What else have you noticed?

Thanks.

I got one of these from Bob a couple months ago, and it has weathered extreme heat, extremely well.  I have it tucked back behind and under the big canopy of my 3 year old Violette De Bordeaux, and this morning I noticed figlets!  I'd take pictures, but the pot is hidden and I suspect it's roots have found their way out of the pot and into the ground, so I'm not about to pick up that pot for a photo shoot!

I doubt they will do anything this year, but am so looking forward to tasting this unknown OC, "Hearty Flavor" fig!
