While visiting Austin, TX last week and breakfasting at the Kerbey Lane Cafe (five star for migas as well as pancakes), I stumbled across a very large and very healthy fig tree in a public location (to the right in the google maps image that follows). With neither hand pruners nor time at hand, I was fortunate to find a sucker (several actually) growing in a deep mulch, i.e., very easy to remove with a few lignified roots attached.

Never leave home without your hand pruners.

Way to go, Jimmie!
Who needs pruners when we have the fig enthusiast's resourcefulness? A screw driver, tire iron, teeth...all good tools that will do the job!

Strong work!

Many times a branch that is just broken roughly from tree is a better rooter than if you clean cut with shears!

Great find ! Love the leaf .

Great find.
