Unknown Purple (Grasa)

This fig was received as a cutting last year from Grasa, formerly a regular contributor on this forum. It was a plant she had bought at a nursery many years ago, but had forgotten the name. She described it as growing unprotected in Seattle and producing lots of great tasting large purple figs. I got one fig at the end of the season from it as a rooted cutting last year that was very good. This is the first fig for this plant of this year. This fig was a bit aberrant, asymmetric and a little larger than the rest of those on the plant. The eye was huge, and it was starting to get a few cracks on it, so I picked it not realizing that the underside was still a little green. The eye on the rest of the figs of this plant look much smaller. Despite not being as soft or ripe as the other kinds of figs I have tried this year, the taste was very sweet, outstanding, juicy. Some kind of unknown 'fruit' flavor to it as well. Sorry, got too excited to take a pic of the inside (will add more pics with next fig, looks like maybe about a week off).

Here are pics of the fig and the typical leaf. I know Grasa distributed this to quite a few people, was wondering if anyone else here was growing it or and if they had any idea what it is?

Hi Ed ,
I had cuttings from this fig but did not make .....I do have Grasa unk Adriatic which I think is a Dk...

I'm growing it as well. No fruit this year due to spider mites. No idea what the actual variety name is.

Looks awesome! Can't wait to try one.

Hi Grasa, hope you are well :)

Gorgeous. Glad you could share. (I like your china, too.)

This is funny.  Two years ago I got my first 2 cuttings from Grasa.  One was suppose to be unk Adriatic and the other Osborn Prolific.  Well since there were only 2 and the were my first I  must have put 3 labels on each of them.  My unk Adriatic was dark brown so I don't think that is what it is.  What ever it is it looks really good.

Someone had posted about this fig possibly being Neveralla on another thread, and I wanted to post the interior of mine.  Although the leaves look similar, the figs seem quite different.  Grasa's Purple has a red interior and is a large darker PURPLE fig

The 2 pics below with 2 figs - only the left had one is Grasa's Purple Unk. (the other is Black Triana)

The fig is a little watery and starting to spoil - I left it on a day too long in our recent rains.

Hey Ed, whatever the Fig is, it sure is Beautiful! : )
