Unknowns...if anyone is interested

Jose,
  ...long shot PM just sent...
Jim

Sorry Jim, maybe next time. I am trying to root a bunch of cuttings I took before starting this thread, if those work out maybe you'll get more than cuttings. Fingers crossed....I took a look at some of the cuttings and they have little nubs where I'm assuming roots will start to grow.

Sarah, Please check your PMs.

what is a portugal dwarf???

I believe that is the name for one of the varieties I have. look at hoosier's post above. it is what the gentleman that sold me my trees called one of them...about as good as I can do right now, lol.

numbers 5,4,3,2,1   the second to last pic would be 3,2,5 from left to right (mission?, dwarf portugal?, celeste?)
the last pic is a different look at 4

very exiciting! #4 is likely the Pingo de Mel, #3  black Mission!  nice pictures.

thanks to Lebmark for asking me again for an ID... I hadn't thought of comparing the old pics (with figs, leaves and trunks) to the new pics of just trunks and branches. I'm glad I have a better Idea of what they are now.

Thanks Jose
It gives me an idea what to root first...
Merry Christmas to All
Mark

Looks like it is going to be a busy weekend... I will send a PM to those who have already requested cuttings, if anyone else is interested post on this thread or send me a pm. I don't think there will be enough of the number two to go around (I pruned as much as i could). any money left over from the shipping costs will be donated to F4F foundation.

please post here before sending money to get confirmation of what you'll receive. there are few cuttings of Dwarf Portugal (2) and Marseilles (1).

Can I have a couple?

Hey, Jose, if you still have Marseilles and Dwarf Portugal, count me in.  I'll send $$ via PayPal, just let me know the amount.

Dennis, I sent you a PM.

Patty, PM sent

Dwarf Portugal and Marseilles are all spoken for, the remaining packs will only include Celeste, Mission and Pingo del Mel...

Jose, did I get this number correlation right?

1- Marseilles
2- Dwarf Portugal
3= Black Mission
4- Pingo de Mel
5- Celeste ?

If the names match the numbers and the varieties are correct, then I would say yes...lol. I don't want to say yes 100% until the growing season kicks in and i get confirmation with fig and leaf pics.

How is the rooting going Grasa? the grafted cutting you sent is leafing out, as are most of the others. do you think it is time to take the rubber bands off or can i leave them on? I have the cuttings in a perlite/vermiculite/potting soil mixture so I can't see root progress...I'm pretty sure they are there though, everything looks healthy

BTW, my favorites are Pingo de mel, Celeste and Marseilles...can't remember what the others tasted like (not because they tasted bad, just not as good as the others), my wife liked them all...

Jose, I would not remove tthe bands yet.  Graft joints are very fragile and I am a novice ( many experienced members told me I did not do it proper)  Band helps keep the moist they have until they grow, don't want to run the chance!  I already planted in the larger pots here and did not remove the band, yet.

My cuttings are doing excellent. Most of them in little pots as they had little roots! So far, they all survived and I have a few in refrigerator to attempt to graft on my large tree out there.  I have 6 pots in a salad plastic tub, I cover the lid at night and lean it against the heating vent - during the day, they are getting a tiny bit of day light...so far they are fine. thank you very much.

Jose, VERY large package arrived today!  My gosh. Thank you my friend.  Will be a busy girl putting cuttings in cups on Saturday!

I was trying to do some looking and I'm a bit stumped. I'm wondering is the Dwarf Portugal (suspected #2) the same as the Black Portugal?  I can't seem to find anything to compare.
Thanks!

Sarah, those are the names the guy gave me when I bought them. He had a ton of figs and definitely new how to grow them, at least 100 (if not hundreds) of pots all over his property. he said he moves them all in for winter. I rented a Uhaul and it was a lot of back and forth driving that day to make it happen, when I finally got the trees it was late and I didn't want to take up any more of his time (it was his granddaughter's birthday. ... to keep from giving any of these figs the wrong name, lets continue to call them unknown for now...sorry

Understood. I can't wait till the little buggers leaf out and fruit so we can all figure out what they are.  Sort of like a surprise package.  Thanks for explaining for me.  So far I've gotten at least one of each to root up and some are leafing out. :)
Thanks again!

You're very welcome Sarah.
