Unparallelled oportunity for new collectors

Jon (Encanto Farms) has listed "The Mother of all Variety Packs" on eBay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/281076919920 which consists of 156 cuttings made up of 148 cuttings.  Current bid is less than $1 per cutting.  I've bid but tempered my enthusiasm as I need to move figs out of my propagation room and finally get my tomatoes started (I'm already 6 weeks later than last year).

Good luck!

wow!  Good deal for someone!  Too much going on here with the remodel and move ahead, but good luck to all the bidders!

Suzi

that's a lot of cuttings. if they were like jon's Panache cuttings, that will be more like 450 cuttings after processing them.

Heck of a package right there!

Wow is right!

I have to agree with Harvey, it's time to shift focus onto vegetable starts. Except I don't normally start until about a week or so after St. Patrick's day.

Today I cupped what may be my last cuttings for this year. I have four left in the sphag bags, but I already have multiples of each going and I'm pretty much out of room. I don't know, we'll see if I gather more ambition over the next few days.

Instant fig collection. This is not the junk left over as there are some very good figs represented. I'm so over loaded fig wise this year I could never fit these in but someone is going to get an incredible bargain.

Sounds tempting, but I draw the line at 150 cuttings at once.. ;)

Seriously, I'm almost overwhelmed with 50 at various stages..  How long can they stay refrigerated?

Greetings,

Regarding how long one can keep cuttings stored in your refrigerator, I found this on GardenWeb site, but can't verify the veracity of the content:

"...........it is advised to clean the cuttings before storing them and again before rooting them. First scrub the cuttings with a toothbrush and anti-bac dish soap, rinse them under tap water, and then spray or dip them in 10% (1 part plain Chlorox bleach and 9 parts tap water)bleach solution. Allow the cuttings to dry after the bleach dip and do not rinse them under water after bleaching. Many have successfully rooted cuttings up to a year or more stored in the refrigerator this way but the longer you store cuttings, the more difficult it becomes to root them. "

If the winner wants to swap any cuttings I'm up for it. Send me a pm or email and we can talk!

I just missed it. I was the second highest bidder. Any cuttings the winner doesn't want PM me.

Wow, that is a lot of figs, and lol, a lot of work. Good luck - and have fun - to whomever got them.
