Unripe fruit on the tree

I am in coastal CT(zone 7).  Last summer the tree took a long time to break dormancy, and only did so once we pruned heavily, so I'll be doing that sooner this coming summer.  But, as a consequence the fruit was also very late in maturing.  I over winter the tree in the garage, and we've had to move it in already, but the tree is loaded with lots of unripe fruit.  Is this fruit lost, or is there any way to ripen it off the tree?

Thanks

Won't ripen . I would not prune heavily this spring . You may need to do the fig shuffle ( dieseler is the pro ) to get the tree going sooner .

Lost. Leave them. They will either drop or you can pick them off in the spring.  Trees have their own time clock. Trees will break at different times.

I had 2 that didn't break until the first week of June.

Learn the art of pinching. This will help to encourage earlier fruit formation and ripening. There are several posts related to this topic.

Amy, you can try oiling the eye and it will ripen.  I have done this and it works almost 100%, but it won't taste as good as if the sun ripened it.
